Elevation Where I Am

This free online tool allows you to quickly estimate the elevation of your current location using your device's built-in GPS or browser location services. It is especially useful when you are outdoors, hiking, cycling, or traveling and need a fast way to check your altitude above sea level without specialist equipment. By simply visiting this page and granting permission to access your location, you can instantly see an accurate measurement of your elevation, making it a handy resource for walkers, runners, adventurers, or anyone interested in knowing the height of the ground where they are right now.

Instructions

To use the elevation where I am tool:

1. Accept any prompt from your web browser to allow location data to be shared
2. Wait, and your current elevation will soon be displayed
3. Click Show the Map to display your location and elevation on a map

Other Notes

• A timer below the display lets you know how long has passed since the displayed elevation was valid. If you have since moved location and need a new reading, click the Refresh button.
• The level of accuracy has a dependency on the location your web browser determines. In some cases the web browser may report its location as being close, but not at your actual location. As a result, the elevation estimate displayed will have less accuracy. For best results use a mobile device with a in-built GPS outdoors.
